Some Truth
Published 9 months ago in My life.I never quite feel the need to lie, this is probably because I have no interest in what others think of me. This is not to say I am friendless, quite the contrary, I believe unabashed honesty is by far the best policy and I find I usually gain the respect of those around me for speaking my mind. What has this to do with anything? Some may well ask. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything specific, it is simply a general comment, and perhaps a warning, you see, honesty can be scathing, especially coming from someone who has a strong opinion, which I most certainly do. I won’t advise you not to comment, I like to hear other people’s opinion’s, my only request is that you abstain from chatspeak, and make an honest attempt to spell and use grammar correctly. You have been warned!

Anarchy, do you mean to say that there are two of us in the world of Nook? I appreciate an open and honest approach to most things in life (except when my sister’s hair went green when the hairdresser stuffed up the mixture) Then I lied and told her it didn’t look toooo baddddd realllly! so I lied then to protect the innocent. All those around her, in fact!.
People with strong opinions are usually able to accept the same in kind gracefully, but tend not to suffer fools lightly…by that I mean those people who pretend not to understand the bleeding obvious.
I hope I meet the standards set for conversation by you….that’s the truth of it!
your name is anarchy but you insist on proper grammar and spelling….
lol
Apart from coming across as an outright liar it seems to me you are too immature to recognise the values of tact, kindness and thoughtfulness.
The truth is often hard, sometimes brutal, and some people cannot withstand it. How do you treat them? With contempt for their perceived ‘weakness’.
Everybody lies. To what extent is between you and your conscience.
Welcome to Nook! And I must say I like your username.
I know what you mean about honesty, it is much better than lying, but there’s exceptions to every rule… e.g. you don’t tell a child that their picture of the family is crummy scribble, and you don’t answer honestly when customers ask how you are, if simply because 500 of them a day ask you, and the honest answer would always include a string of expletives. Or maybe that’s just me… who knows…
Don’t worry, most people on Nook use proper spelling and grammar or if they don’t, it’s loveable and distinctive. And there’s hardly any chatspeak. Hope you don’t mind smileys
I have met many people in my life who present bad manners, tactlessness and insensitivity under the guise of the virtue of “honesty”. They generally give their opinions as if they are truths and treat other’s opinions with disdain and in doing so, rarely listen to what anyone else has to say. As a result, they tend to be ill-informed, ignorant and deeply lacking in empathy.
These people, in my experience, almost always deliver their “unabashed honesty” in a negative manner, leaving the recipient of their “truthful wisdom” feeling foolish and unhappy.
In my opinion, honesty is a virtue. However, the art of speaking your mind in a positive way, leaving room for difference of opinion and the chance of learning something new, with the possibility that you may be wrong, are virtues of equal weight.
You say “I have no interest in what others think of me”. It is my opinion (just my opinion) that you care very deeply what others think. It seems that you would like very much for people to see you as a no-nonsense, straight-talker who prides themselves on their intelligence and brutal honesty. You appear to me, to be very vain in this respect. So vain in fact, that you found it necessary to inform us of sort of person you are in your very first post on this site, rather than letting us decide for ourselves through your contributions on other matters.
That being said - Welcome on board. I look forward to hearing more from you.
PS
I hope my spelling and grammar were up to your standard.
Nook is a place of very high quality grammar - only a few “should of”s and “opinion’s” to muddy the water!
Please be warned, I pop into Nook at the end of the day, and often after a few wines to unwind. I couldn’t give a rats, if my spelling lacks at that hour of the day, as long as you get the gist of my words. God forbid if you ever make a mistake, I;ll be shaking my head.
Honestly, you sound like a pollie……would you buy a used camel from this person…..probably not.
As for any spelling or grammatical errors, well to the spelling police, tough titties I say. (apologies to ma)
HEHEHE Gadfly you’re funny
i wouldnt say i nevr lie. and the same goes for dave. thing is we both know when the other is lying so it kinda balances out. i couldnt stand being honest all the time. let people know your real feelings. ugh. yknow when someone treads on your toe and says sorry. you say thats alright. you might think theyre a clumsy git but you dont day so.
so welcome to nook chaostheory. i think youll like it here.
or am i lying.
btw r u related to lady c by any chance.
When in doubt, tell the truth or keep your mouth shut. Lying can really bugger things up.
I’m with Keats:
Beauty is truth, truth beauty — that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.
everybody lies.
big lies , small lies….
try to go a week without a single lie, no exceptions.
No, bending the truth, no little white lies, nothing.
No” I have a headache” no “because i said so ” none..
I would bet $$$$$$ you couldnt.
